Governor Wike meets traders at burnt Fruit and Vegetable Market, directs immediate reconstruction.
On Thursday night, after the fire incident was reported to Governor Wike, he conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the market He said,
“Let me assure you that I have directed Special Adviser on Special Projects so that we can rebuild the market immediately “.
Based on his visit to the Fruits and Vegetables market which was burnt down by fire yesterday and he assured that the market will be redesigned and reconstructed immediately; to allow those who suffered losses go back to their business
Dax George Kelly Alabo (FNIQS) The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects and Head of the Bureau For Special Projects Rivers State was present for an on the spot assessment, which will give way for the immediate reconstruction of the market.
The directed the Councillor of the area where the market is located and the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area to work in hand with the traders; to get a comprehensive list of shop owners and affected traders for the government’s intervention.
He appealed to the affected traders to cooperate with the Rivers State Government for the necessary action .
“Those of you who sell here, I have told the Mayor and the councillor representing here to get your names, so that we can reach out to you”.
“What I saw here yesterday and this morning is so painful. Please endure and cooperate with us. Your problem is our problem. What affects you, affects the Government.
“This is your source of livelihood and we will find a way to assist you rebuild your lives, the State Government will investigate the cause of the inferno” He said.
